Cardiff has undergone recent developments that make it a very attractive city for singles and dating, with a wide range of possible activities on offer.

Near central Cardiff, the Millennium Stadium plays host to many sporting events and concerts and has famously hosted the FA Cup in recent years. There are plenty of local multiplex cinemas, a wide variety of restaurants, and a very active nightclub scene. Cardiff also has a large, popular shopping centre.

I personally use the Prince Of Wales Wetherspoons public house, near Cardiff Central station and the City Centre bus station, quite often. It's a nice pub which offers food and drinks at reasonable prices, and no loud background music to get in the way of talking; the ideal environment for a date. It used to be the Prince Of Wales Theatre, and it has retained some of its former charm. If you prefer fast food, there are plenty of places that offer this, and you can find coffee houses practically around every corner.

Talking of theatres, St Davids Hall and the New Theatre are located in the city centre, and they provide a wide variety of performances and are usually good value.

Formerly Cardiff Docks, the Bay area of the city has recently been developed and is now an attractive part of the city. Approximately 30 minutes by foot from the city centre, it's definitely worth a sightseeing visit, and contains many restaurants, another cinema, a ten-pin bowling alley, and various other attractions. Visit http://www.smwch.com/ if you would be interested in speed dating events in the bay area; these are especially good if you could do with a dating confidence boost.

There is an Ikea in nearby Grangetown that is also a good place to visit for a meal, although it's probably not an ideal choice for a first date.

There are various parks and a free-entry museum located around the City Hall, which is located to the north of the city centre. Also to the north can be found Cardiff Castle and its grounds; well worth a visit.

If you're driving, an excellent place for a reasonably-priced meal is right next to the service area of junction 30 of the M4, where you will find a Toby Carvery. Note that this is not part of the M4 services, and you will not have to pay typical service area prices.
